This volume explores the regional security complex of the Indian subcontinent in relation to the Tamil crisis since 1977. It focuses on the deployment of the Indian Peacekeeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka between 1987 and 1990, the origins and build-up of the conflict which led to the IPKF's intervention and its aftermath.
